MESSAGE FROM DANA RADER

Dear Golfing Students and Friends,

There are lots of exciting things going on this summer at the Golf School. The LPGA National Championship is back at The Golf Club at Ballantyne on August 21-24, 2011. A full field is expected. If you would like to volunteer, please call Bob Warf at 704.562.2482. The Pro Am starts on Sunday, August 21st. On Saturday August 20th, we will host a special VIP clinic for Dana Rader Golf School students. The clinic starts at 3:00pm. More details are forthcoming, so keep an eye on your email inbox.

This year marks my 31st year of teaching golf. I am very proud of my years on the lesson tee, and I am proud to say I have taught three generations of kids. Pictured below are Mary Jane Hanley along with her daughter Linda Hanley and her granddaughters Amy and Kristen Hanley.

This goes to show you that golf is not only a family game, but a lifetime sport that is passed on from generation to generation. Thank you all for your love of this great game. Keep passing the game on to others…family, friends, and kids!

This is truly a game of a lifetime.

Dana Rader

NEW! PUTTING GOLF SCHOOL

Putting Golf School “The higher the score, the faster you can lower it – with the short game.” Harvey Penick

Think about this for a minute:
300 yard drive + a perfect approach shot + 3 putts = BOGEY
It doesn't matter if you can bomb it 100 yards past everyone else off the tee,
if you 3-putt every other hole, and lip-out easy 2 & 3-footers,
your scores will never improve!

Dana Rader Golf School’s LPGA and PGA Class A Professionals, Jason Sutton and
Nancy Harvey, offer golfers of all abilities the chance to improve their putting with their
Putting Golf School.

Date: Wednesday, June 29
Time: 1:00-5:00pm
Tuition: $225

There are only 6 spots left in this class, so sign up today and drop shots off your game quickly! Call 704.542.7635

NEED A NEW PUTTER?

Once a player learns to set-up to a putt properly, a putter should be made to fit them in the correct set-up position. A customized Coutour Putter, fit with the Tri-Fit Method coupled with solid set-up fundamentals will allow you to develop a reliable, while also natural, putting stroke. Dana Rader Golf School is a certified fitter for Coutour putters. Stop by for a demo or give us a call at 704.542.7635.

Coutour Putters
With the average golfer taking over 40% of their strokes putting, that means you’re using your putter twice as much as any other club in your bag!
ARE YOUR CLUBS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Not sure? For a quality fitting experience, make an appointment with Stan Roach, our certified fitting specialist at Dana Rader Golf School.

Getting your golf clubs custom fitted can make a huge difference in your golf game. A good portion of errant shots can be attributed to that set of clubs you bought off the shelf. While golf club manufacturers have done extensive research to come up with "standards" that will apply to the majority of golfers, more than likely there will be parts of the golf club that for you will fall outside the standard. Golf clubs that are not properly sized to your body and swing types can often lead to miss-hits, slices, hooks, duffs, or worse.

Club Trade-In Program
Do you have old clubs in your garage, tucked away in a storage room, or at the club you’d like to trade-in for new equipment? Our trade-in program makes it easy to put new clubs in your bag. Just bring us your old clubs and we will give you a credit toward new Callaway, Nike, Mizuno, Ping, Titleist, or Taylormade clubs.

Our prices are very competitive with discount stores, and the main advantage of buying through us is that we are able to verify that the clubs you receive are the exact clubs you ordered. For those of you who are not local, we never drop ship. We have your clubs delivered to us first to verify your measurements, and if necessary, we adjust the clubs to the right specifications before you receive them.

J.E.T.S (JUNIOR ELITE TRAINING SYSTEM)

Dana Rader Golf School’s Master Instructor, Jason Sutton, started a new junior golf program called J.E.T.S designed to help junior golfers improve their tournament scores and prepare them for a chance to play collegiate golf. The goal of the program is to improve junior golfer’s skills through a series of fitness and drills coaching sessions intended to enhance the junior golfer’s athleticism and provide expert golf instruction. The program focuses on swing mechanics, short game skills, mental game/course management, and physical fitness designed for golf improvement.

The program includes two (2) one-hour private lessons a month and two (2) 1 ½ hour group coaching sessions which will include 45 minutes per month of (TPI golf fitness) cyclone sessions with Mark Kane, owner of Kane Training. Additional features include statistical software analysis membership, mental golf profile, video swing analysis, player’s journal, monthly progress reports for parents, and more.

After two months since inception of the program, Jason’s students have done a great job of setting and accomplishing their goals. Here are just a few successes from students in the J.E.T.S program:

- Luke Thalman shot a career low tournament round of 65 and qualified for State Big I Youth Classic.
- Henry Shimp won a NJGC event by shooting 69-71 and is now ranked number one on tour. He also qualified for State Big I Youth Classic .
- Aaron Walker shot 79-72 to win his first NJGC event.

“All of the kids have worked so hard and they have pushed each other which was one of my goals of this program,” says Jason Sutton. “I try to promote a competitive team atmosphere to help motivate each of these fine young men.”

7 TIPS TO PREVENT DEHYDRATION IN CHILDREN

Warm weather has finally arrived in most parts of the country. It is extremely important to keep kids hydrated!

The following tip is from 7 Tips to Prevent Dehydration in Children:

Children love to play outside, especially when the weather's warm. Parents, however, should know that active children do not adjust to hot temperatures as well as adults. Their body surface, as a proportion of their overall weight, is much greater than an adult's. So they produce more heat during physical activity and they sweat less than adults. This reduces their ability to get rid of body heat and could lead to dehydration.

In addition, kids often don't drink enough to replenish the fluids they lose during prolonged activity since they're too busy having fun. This can lead to severe dehydration and potentially life-threatening heat illnesses. That's why they need adult supervision and plenty of fluids readily available.

At Dana Rader Golf School, we carefully structure and supervise our junior programs and provide water to students for their safety. Please discuss with your child the importance of hydration.

Have a fun, safe and successful season!
