Private Instruction
Dana Rader has assembled an award-winning team of teaching professionals who make it their mission to be continuous learners and outstanding teachers.
Many of the staff have worked with Dana for many years, and have a consistent approach in both schools and private lessons. Our Master Instructors have over 7 years of experience teaching Dana Rader's system while our Certified Instructors have less than 7 years of working with Dana, having spent thousands of hours in research and training with Dana and her Master Instructors.
From beginners to single-digit handicappers, we offer a variety of private lesson programs. Your golf instructor will provide a plan and suggest a program that will assist you in achieving your golf goals. Our programs include:
- One-hour private lessons and semi-private lessons;
- Lesson Series: Four (4) or Eight (8) 1-hour lessons with video analysis;
- Playing lesson with expert instruction for two or more hours on The Golf Club at Ballantyne golf course;
- Annual Program: a popular year round program that includes 12 hours of private golf instruction and practice privileges at the Dana Rader Golf School. Click here for full details.

Before making teaching a career, Julie played professionally on the Future's, European, Asian and LPGA Tour, winning 12 tournaments worldwide. In addition to her outstanding playing credentials, she has excelled in her teaching. She has been named to the prestigious list of Golf For Women Magazine’s Top 50 Teachers, Golf Digest Top 17 Teachers, and Golf Magazine’s Top 475 Teachers Nationwide. She has been twice voted by her peers as LPGA Southeast Section Teacher of the Year. In 2010, she was elected into the Ohio University Sports Hall of Fame for the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Julie has shown her leadership in the golf industry by serving as an LPGA National Evaluator and instructor for LPGA Practical Teaching Workshops. She contributes her time to the 21st Annual Julie Cole Charity Pro-Am in Findlay, OH, and serves as the Site Director for LPGA*USGA Girls Golf of Charlotte, NC.

Marc's main interests lie in coaching junior golfers and aspiring collegiate golfers. He started the Junior Elite Program, a year round program of practice and instruction for juniors who are playing tournament golf and who hope to play collegiate golf. Marc is the Tournament Director for the Ballantyne Junior Open that attracts top players from several states. In 2010, 2011, and 2012, Marc was honored for his work with junior golfers by being named to U.S. Kids Golf Honorable Mention List of Top 50 Kids Teachers. After college, Marc worked as Assistant Golf Coach at Coker College, NCAA Division II. Marc is also a contributing writer for the Ballantyne Magazine. His creative articles offer great golf tips for golfers of all levels, and even attracts non-golfers alike. He has brought an international flair to the Dana Rader staff. He is fluent in French and has been a hit with the Canadian and European students. While he teaches students at all levels of the game, he understands the importance of fundamentals and incorporates them well into his instruction.

Nancy combines an excellent technical eye for golf swing analysis with a simple, easy to comprehend approach to instruction. Her other instruction strengths can be summarized in the areas of error detection and correction, progression planning, and being results oriented. Nancy joined the Dana Rader Golf School staff after teaching for the Golf Digest Schools at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Her teaching experience also includes being a certified instructor for the Nick Faldo Golf Institute. Nancy is the former Director of Instruction at Hickory Hill Golf Club in her native Baldwinsville, NY, where she developed players of all ages and abilities through sound fundamentals and in-swing correction. Her staff experience also includes the historic Inverness Club in Toledo, OH. Nancy was honored by PGA of America by being named to Play Golf America's Top 100 Performers in 2010.

Doug's enthusiasm for the game and teaching is contagious and his knowledge of the game in all areas makes it fun for all his students, regardless of their age or skill level. Doug joined the Dana Rader Golf School in 2006 after teaching 13 years at Michael Hebron's Golf School in Smithtown, NY. He is a former teaching professional and Director of Instruction at Island Green Golf School in Selden, NY and the former Head Pro at Smithtown Landing Country Club. Through his teaching experiences, Andrew has found that a strong fundamental golf swing must be combined with an exceptional mental approach. Prior to joining Dana Rader Golf School, Andrew was the Director of Instruction at Riverwood and Hedingham Golf Clubs near Raleigh, NC where he directed golf schools, camps, clinics, and private instruction. He has over 5 years of professional teaching experience, is certified as a Golf Machine Instructor, and was mentored by PGA Professional David Orr (Director of Instruction at Campbell University). His philosophy of teaching is based on a foundation of physics, geometry, and biomechanics and believes that the game can be made simple and easy to understand. Andrew has a strong passion for making the game fun and teaching students how to hit the ball solid every time.

Tom is all about results, improving every aspect of his student’s game not just the full swing and simplifying the way they play and think about golf. Prior to joining DRGS, Tom was the founder and owner of the Synchronized Golf Academy at Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Arkansas. Tom specializes in teaching and coaching player’s to improve the three most “Big Three.” The Big Three includes the driver, wedge and putter. These three clubs collectively make up 85% of your score.
Tom has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards including among others, being named Arkansas PGA Teacher of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2011, and Arkansas PGA Player of the Year in 2011. Throughout his career, Tom has worked with over 40 Top 100 Golf Instructors. He is certified as a both a Golf Machine and Medicus Golf Institute Instructor, Titleist Performance Institute Golf Fitness Professional, and a member of the Golf Coaches Certification Association.
