Perfect pitching - two club drill |
| This drill can fix four of the most common faults: hitting behind the ball, distance control, solid contact, and topping. |
Hold two wedges, one in each hand, with your hands opposite each other (photo 1). Swing the two clubs waist high to waist high on the backswing (photo 2) to waist high follow-through (photo 3) make sure the clubs are parallel to your feet on both sides of the swing. The clubs should never touch each other as you're swinging back, down and through, or cross over.

In order to effectively do this drill the hands will hinge up slightly due to the weight of the golf club by isolating the two clubs. Therefore, because the hands are separated you will feel the weight of the club creating a hinge halfway in the backswing. As you come through the shot make sure the two hands stay equal distance apart at all times during the swing (photo 4). When you complete your swing your hands will remain together and extended towards the target.

| By practicing this drill you will eliminate scooping or excessive use of your hands at impact which causes the above problems in your pitch shots (photo 5). |

| Lastly, by performing the drill correctly, you will learn the proper tempo, timing, and technique for this shot. Remember, drills change the golf swing more than just hitting balls. Once you have rehearsed this drill at least ten times in a row then apply it with a sand wedge and execute an actual shot (photo 6). |
